Spring Break is coming up fast! If you’re not getting out of Dodge this April, you might be looking for something to keep the kiddos engaged and entertained for the week. Or maybe this is their week to do something extra, have fun, and relax too. After all we’re in for a short summer this year, the kids might as well get a little bit of fun in now. Here’s a list of fantastic camps and other things to do around Fredericksburg during Spring Break. Follow the links for more information, times, prices, etc.

Fredericksburg Spring Break: April 22-26

Spotsylvania Spring Break: April 22-26

Stafford Spring Break: April 15-19

1. Little Fish Swimming: Get those kids ready for the pool! Little Fish Swimming is offering a Spring Break Camp in Fredericksburg from April 22-26 and in Stafford April 15-19.

2. Fredericksburg Field House: The Field House is offering a Spring Break camp that is sure to send your camper home with just the right amount of energy left for dinner, bath, and story time. Field trips are planned for Alum Springs Park and Westmoreland State Park.

3. Virginia Outside Fishing Adventure Camp: Campers ages 8-14 will meet at Mott’s Run Reservoir for fishing from the docks and by boat. Sign ups are through Spotsylvania County Parks & Rec.

4. Minecraft Camp: Keep their minds sharp with this Engineering for Kids Camp hosted at the University of Mary Washington campus in Stafford. Campers will use their imagination and brain power to create a moon habitat using a modified Minecraft system.

Other things to do:

1. Walk the Fredericksburg Heritage Trail: recently cleaned up by City of Fredericksburg employees who picked up over 1000 pounds of trash. Use it, but keep it clean out there!

2. Paragon Theater: $6 movies all day Tuesday means it’s a good time to take the kids to see Dumbo and try out the new reclining seats. They’re fantastic by the way!! They also have the added feature of being reserved when you buy your tickets.

3. Splitsville Bowling: $2 Tuesday. Each game is $2, each shoe rental $2. Where else can you keep your kids this entertained for $4? They also offer a Happy Hour small bites menu that my kids adore.

4. Marine Corps Museum: Located in Stafford just off of I-95.

5. Science Museum of Virginia (Richmond): You might need more than one trip to take it all in.

6. Crows Nest Natural Area Preserve: Beautiful scenery, great hiking trails, and just down the road from Aquia Landing Beach Park, which is the perfect picnic spot! These two places are probably one of the best kept secrets in Stafford County!

7. Westmoreland State Park: Look for Ranger led programs here and don’t forget to check out Fossil Beach.

8. Motts Run Reservoir: Hiking, fishing, canoe rental, play area, what more could you want?? Located off of River Road in Fredericksburg, this is one of my families favorite places!

9. Alum Springs Park: Another hidden gem with a playground, water, hiking and more.

What did I miss? Where are you spending this Spring Break?
